What percentage of aloe vera is there in Santaverde cosmetics?
Conventional formulations of cosmetic products contain 60-80% pure water (Aqua). The main component (up to 90%) of each Santaverde product, on the other hand, is pure aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) plant juice rich in active substances from our own, certified organic cultivation in Andalusia. This is an undiluted organic juice, not a mixture of aloe vera powder concentrate and water. This fresh organic juice contains the great amount of vital substances of fresh aloe vera leaves, of which specific polysaccharides (Aloverose), essential amino acids, enzymes, mineral salts, vitamins and antioxidants are particularly valuable and effective for skin care from the inside and the outside.
Why is organic cultivation so important, precisely with aloe vera?
Conventionally cultivated aloe vera plants are treated with synthetic, rapid-growth fertilisers. In this way, the plant is stimulated to absorb large amounts of water, with the result that it swells up. The ratio of the active substances to the water content however drops rapidly. For the farmer, this means a large quantity of kilograms of harvest; but the content of vital substances is greatly impaired. In addition, there is the strain from weed-killers and pesticides.
Which additives in aloe vera juices should be avoided?
Many aloe vera juices have been highly preserved with additives, frequently with sodium benzoate or potassium sorbate, which have been proven to cause allergies. Some juices have been subsequently thickened in order to appear more natural and are also used as drinking gel. We recommend that you always look at the list of ingredients: the gel is mainly formed by xanthan gum, unobjectionable, but superfluous in drinking products. Likewise, sorbitol and flavours are also added in order to improve the taste.
